Biography

Cynthia MacDonald, M.A.,L.P.C. C.A.C. III, entered private practice in the
Aspen Valley in 2001. Prior to being in private practice, she worked with a number of agencies in the area which included work with at-risk youth, sexual abuse, domestic violence/anger management, addictions and brain injury recovery.

Ms. MacDonald received her undergraduate degree (B.S.) from the State University of New York, and then graduated from Regis University in Denver with a Master's Degree in psychology. She received her license from the state of Colorado as a professional counselor (L.P.C.), and has been certified by the state as an addictions counselor (C.A.C.III).

Ms. MacDonald has been a voluntary member of both the Pitkin and Garfield County Community Evaluation Teams, which acted to recommend and provide services for youth at risk for out-of-home placement.

Ms. MacDonald has lectured corporations locally on proactive occupational wellness and effective recovery. She treats individuals, couples and families. Her specialties include anger management, abuse, addictions, depression/anxiety, life transitions, TBI, PTSD, stress management, pain management, and rehabilitation psychology.

Ms. MacDonald's emphasis is on psychodynamic and cognitive-behaviorial methodologies. She focuses on guided self-help towards self-directed change.
